I am truly happy with my highchair and that is why I am publishing this Chicco Polly Progress 5 review for all the moms that are currently looking for one.
One thing that I absolutely love about this highchair is its high quality and durability, and it grows with my baby.
I know that there are a lot of high chairs on the market and it can be quite overwhelming to choose a good one to match your needs and desires, but if you are looking for something similar, you should definitely check it out.

How to use the highchair?
As I mentioned earlier in this post, this product grows with your child. Because it’s multifunctional (5 in 1) it can transform into a baby bouncer, highchair, chair to eat at the table, comfortable booster seat, and compact booster seat depending on your child’s age.
- Newborn Recliner – never feed your baby while in this position! Pair it up with the Toy Bar to entertain your newborn.
- Infant Highchair suitable from 5-6 months – you would use this position for mealtimes
- Toddler Booster is suitable for 12-15 months – but I never used this feature. My toddler was too active and our kitchen chairs are not wooden, so I couldn’t use them safely.
- Big Kid Booster suitable from 15-18 months – we started using it from 18 months (he’s 19 months now)
- Youth Stool suitable after 3 years – but not included with the older version (which is what we have)
Why do you need Chicco Polly Progress 5 in your life?
I’d done a lot of research before I purchased this highchair simply because I was on a tight budget plus I had a lot of “requirements” in my head. Some of these were:
- Easy cleaning
Of course that this highchair doesn’t comply with all of these conditions, but it was the only one that was close enough and seemed to be able to meet my needs. Keep on reading to find out the positives and the negatives of the product.
I feel like this highchair has improved my lifestyle because I can continue with my daily activities while my baby plays safely in it. This way I can keep him close to me and he can see whatever I’m doing on the kitchen counter. Always a bonus when you have a curious baby around you.
What did I love about Polly Progress?
There are quite a lot of things I really like about this highchair. But before that, please note that I am reviewing the Polly Progress 5 2015 model, which is slightly different from the 2017-2018 model.
I think what sold the product to me was the fact that the chair grows with my baby and I could use it for a really long time. Just what I needed. Too bad that I only purchased it when my baby had 4 months. I wish I would have bought it earlier. The newborn recliner is one of my favorite things.
Another thing I really like is the tray. It comes with a clear removable liner that once removed it’s clean! Most certainly this feature is available in most highchairs, but I was amazed by that. I can’t tell you how many times I wanted a clean table for him and once I removed the liner, BOOM, like magic, he had a clean table.
I also like that it has an adjustable height, so you can easily adapt it to any table. You can also use it as a toddler-sized table if you put it on the lowest setting. That’s where I put his water or snacks during the day so he can reach them easily.
What are the negatives?
As much as I like this product, there are quite a few things I don’t really like about the product. These didn’t make my life easier and I would definitely change them if I could.
Remember that I am reviewing the Polly Progress 5 2015 model, which is slightly different from the 2017-2018 model.
I don’t think it’s the most hygienic highchair in the world. The 2015 model comes with a lot of nooks and dimples which collect food. In order to clean it properly, you’d have to use something tiny and sharp (like a toothpick). Food will also end up underneath the booster seat. So you’ll have to remove it quite often to clean it properly.
Another thing that I didn’t like very much was the front wheels. It’s very difficult to move it around while the baby is in the chair. I would always struggle and hit my feet in the chair while transporting it. Normally you wouldn’t want to transport it from one place to another, but there are some moments when you don’t have a choice, so you just have to do it.
This issue has been solved with the newer model (2017) by adding wheels to the back of it as well. For sure it’s a massive difference to it.
It’s very heavy and bulky even after you fold it. Honestly, I rarely fold it, I always leave it in the same place. But if you have a smaller house and don’t have a lot of space, you would need to fold it to make more room for other things.
How much does Chicco Polly cost?
Prices vary a lot depending on where you buy them from, colors, and models.
If you ask me, this product is great value for money. It’s very versatile, grows with your baby and you get 5 different things into 1. The product is very sturdy and durable. We’ve had ours for more than a year now and it’s still as new, except for the covers (they have some food stains near the seams).
The toy bar for me it’s quite expensive as an accessory for this highchair, but you don’t have to buy it. There are a lot of cheaper ones on the market.
Overall I am quite happy with the price, but of course, not everybody agrees with this, which is totally fine.
Other Questions & Concerns
Why do some models have wheels only in the front of the highchair?
After a quick search on the Chicco Polly Progress 5, you’re going to notice that some of the models have back wheels and some only the front ones. This is because the latest version (2017) has been updated with back wheels as well. The one we have it’s from 2015, which comes with wheels in the front only.
Is the toy bar included?
The toy bar is not included, you’ll have to purchase it separately. Feel free to check it out here. This is a great accessory if you want to use the chair for infants.
Are the covers machine washable?
I never put ours in the washing machine, because I wasn’t sure how it would react. So I highly recommend checking the label before washing. I would normally clean it after each use or wash it by hand using cold water and soap. Also, be aware, that it will soak up a lot of water, therefore it needs quite a lot of time to dry.
This was everything for my honest review of the Polly progress highchair
I’ve been using it for quite a while now and overall I am very satisfied with the product. Of course, it has its good and bad things, no product is meant to please everybody. But I think that makes it a great product.
Like I said earlier, huge value for money and a very long-lasting highchair.
